His brother was more or less stunned speechless and that was really saying something because it was Gabriel. The immense feeling of relief that Lukas was feeling should have been alarming given that he was still basically in the middle of a war zone but that didn't change how he felt. Elated, in short. There were people screaming and dying all around him with death knocking around the corner and Lukas Drake was smiling. People probably thought he was sick. People might have thought that anyways given how casual he was about killing, but now more than ever probably.
Gabe mentioned the transport and Lukas nodded, clearing a path for them out towards where they were evacuating some of the last remaining unscathed survivors. "They're evacuating them back to Grand Central. That's where I spent the night yesterday. Seems safe enough..." Not that Lukas really felt anywhere was all that safe right now, but he just wanted to get Gabriel out of harm's way. He owed it to his parents to make sure his little brother made it out of this apocalypse. If Lukas happened to live too? That would just be a bonus.
Lukas pushed Gabe on to the bus (because securing him was more important than securing any of these strangers) and only then did he turn back to help the other guards from grand central safehouse ward off the infected while the last people finished boarding. The guards fell back on to the bus and they started off towards the safehouse again. Making really good use of the bumper.
Lukas squeezed by a couple people until he found his brother and sat beside him. A stupid grin came across his face and he ruffled his brother's blond hair affectionately. "Gotta say... I'm still in shock kid. I mean, I always hoped but part of me just thought... With my luck, you know? But shit, here you are..."
He probably sounded a little on the crazy side given that he couldn't seem to make a complete sentence but his brain was still trying to catch up to his heart. Folding an arm across his little brother's shoulders, Lukas let out a relieved sigh. "You're the only thing that's kept me going kiddo. Either that or maybe I finally died and this is all a dream..." he laughed a little at the morbid thought and looked over at his brother with a smile, "It's not a dream right?"
