When she asked if he was immune, Ollie shook his head no. "I'm not. But I had a sort of colorful past, did some time and they decided to put my skills to use helping the ever-dwindling general public, rather than letting me rot away in a jail cell," he explained. He figured it was safest to lay it all out on the table sooner than later, that way he didn't get too invested in a potential friendship with this girl, only to have her find out what he'd been before and get pissy. "I don't really mind. I mean, yeah, it sucks sometimes, having no control over my life, really… but I know that I'm providing for people and personally, I think it's better than just sitting around all day," he shrugged. Sorry Allie, he added inwardly. He loved his sister, but it was true. If he had to sit there all day like she did, he'd go insane. "So, I'm sort of a less willing government puppet than most, if you will."
He laughed. "Oh, my mistake. And besides, there are far fewer repercussions for breaking into a place now than there were about five years ago," he added with a wry grin. Even four years ago, people were still defensive. It had been how he'd gotten caught after all. The low defenses and more or less free reign for the "public" was a recent thing. So recent that it still took a lot to get used to. Ollie half expected alarms to go off when he headed for the door with the day's loot sometimes.
Ollie followed suit, filling his drink with a bit of a chuckle. "Yeah. They met before all this started. Allie went to the club she used to work at and they just hit it off," he explained. Allie didn't have a lot of friends nowadays, and for someone who used to thrive on popularity as Allie had, it was a big adjustment. He was happy for people like Rae and the others that didn't care about Allie's "weakness," saw who she actually was underneath it. "I don't know her too well, but I know she's a pretty tough chick. At least that's what Allie says." And he always took Allie at her word.
The first question made him laugh, thinking back to the time on a heist that had ended up with him having sex with a casino owner's wife in the back corner of the casino while Allie tried to get the owner's attention. He put one finger down and took a drink, grinning wryly and then ducking his head. He wasn't ashamed of it, no. But it was a fond, if a little embarrassing, memory. "Adventurous lifestyle," he repeated. "Okay. My turn. I've never… had sex in the back of a car." And Ollie could honestly say that he hadn't.
