Maddie gestured with her index finger to make a point. “Rules were made to be broken,” she said in a slight sing-song tone.
Her brows rose when Caitie’s voice echoed in the hall. As someone who got carried away and laughed loudly when she was supposed to be quiet, Maddie couldn’t really chastise her friend and not be called a hypocrite. That didn’t stop her, though. “Use your inside voice. At least until we’re away from the scene of the pranking.” Then she grinned. “But yes. Definitely Finding Nemo and Ice Age. I used to wish I had a talking saber tooth tiger when I was little.”
“Bet I could’ve.” It was an easy shot. Impossible to miss.
“It’d be hilarious if Luke was the one to slip. Then he’d have pink hair, purple hands, and a black and blue butt.” She laughed.
Unless the guy was a really sound sleeper, he had to have heard the chattering girls nearby. But the guy didn’t move. He didn’t even look like he was breathing.
Maddie’s eyes widened a fraction and a jolt of anxiety flitted through her. No, he couldn’t be…
“Um, C-Caitie… I don’t think that dude’s asleep…” She really didn’t want to be the one to find out, though.
Glancing at her friend, she nudged the girl’s arm. “Go poke him.”
