Re: crappiest tag, ever.
Luke threw Taisce a look, half-amused. He hadn't expected her to correct him -- maybe because, if the tables had been turned, he totally would have run with all the credit.
It was kind of nice, though. Collaborating.
"Just eat the cookie, dude," Luke finally said, laughing a little under his breath. "Wherever it came from, it's for you."
Then there was a second hug, which he managed to return just as enthusiastically as the first. Luke wasn't really into hugging among family, as a general rule; he approved mainly of high fives, manly one-armed embraces, and fist bumps. But it was Uncle B's birthday, so. Whatever. Hugs.
With the candles being lit, one could appreciate the full majesty of the cookie cake. It blazed like a forest fire. Maybe we could have used fifteen less, Luke thought absently, watching his uncle cross the room. Nah. Fifteen more.
Now was when they were supposed to sing, right? Right.
"Haaapyyyy..." He began slowly, purposefully out of key. "Biiiirthday....."
