"Makes a kind of sense?" Brandon's irritation bumped up just slightly when he said that. And then he explained how he'd pissed Kori off. "Kori doesn't get righteous," he defended his younger sister, eyes narrowing. Kori was the innocent Stone. Sweet, kind. Still relatively uncorrupted. Yeah, she got pissed off when people cursed—she even did that with Brandon still, really—but it was just because she didn't think things needed constant vulgarity. Didn't work for everyone, but regardless, that was his baby sister and he was going to stick with her. And the more this guy talked, the more pissed Brandon got. He still didn't turn to face the guy, though. Didn't want to give him the benefit of getting under his skin. Not just yet.
Then he talked about Leah. Like he knew her. Like she was "just some bitch" or whatever. His temper—which he'd done so well controlling recently—flared, and he turned to look at the guy with a look of that was you?! on his face. "You're right about one thing," he finally turned, eyes narrowed in fury. "You don't know jack fucking shit about my sister or what 'problem she has with people.' She doesn't have a problem with people. Just fucking assholes who call her daughter a bitch." He remembered reading that conversation now. Hadn't paid much attention to it then; Leah had it handled, but now that the guy was trying to fucking talk shit about Leah for that? Yeah, he was pissed off.
