"Yeah, if he ever forgives me for that incident. He's letting me on the baseball team, so maybe that means he doesn't completely hate me?"
He grinned again, wider than he'd been previously. "Both? Man, I'll have to get me a costume now!" He listened as she talked about the parties at Madison Square Garden. "They had that party for the fourth, so I see no reason why they shouldn't put together one for Halloween. Unless something too damned drastic happens in the next three months." It was possible, but Marty didn't like to dwell on pessimism.
"Hey, I might be pretty damned annoying at times," he could be, and he knew it. "But the world fucking ended. I do what I can to keep my own spirits up. Maybe someone else's if they like my brand of humor. But it's not all sunshine and roses."
He saluted back with a smirk. "Awesome. I appreciate it."
