"Yeah, I wasn't happy with that remake. I liked that it was darker, closer to the book. But I kind of like the trip that the Wilder version sent you on. And the Oompa Loompas weren't nearly as creepy."
He laughed when she mentioned comparing asses. And the smile lingered a bit as he listened to her giving him permission to stare. "I think you're the first lady I've run into that's told me I can stare." For that, he wouldn't. As much. Probably. "But I promise, cross my heart," he even made the motion. "That I will not touch."
His face scrunched in silent contemplation for a moment as he tried to picture a costume. "Bright red and black, maybe some whites. Something that would remind you maybe of an old 50's diner? With a cape. And a picture of a sandwich on the chest," he nodded. "Now I need a sidekick and a theme song and I'm set!"
He eyed her with a sly grin. "I don't think I could luck out and get you as my sidekick, could I? He wasn't expecting her to say yes. Or even continue the conversation, no matter how fun it was. "I'm Marty by the way."
He'd wait for Maddie to offer her hand if she wanted to shake hands. He didn't want to go leaning over her food if, for some reason, she decided to finish eating it. He had some manners.
