"It is, isn't it?" Ellie wasn't especially creative -- at least not when it came to material objects -- but resourcefulness was always an inspiring trait. It was one of those things that reminded her of evolution, which reminded her of progress and change. Though she often referred to the state of things as "ending" or "apocalyptic" -- terminology that was difficult to avoid -- in reality it was more realistic to think of them as in flux. And of course, if humans really did die out, it would certainly be an event.
Ellie paused for a moment, head cocked curiously to the side. "Why? Former occupations don't always have to imply... Anything, really. They may be good indicators for skill or learning ability, perhaps. But..." She trailed off, thumbing through the wealth of cards.
"Dog... Oh, months now," she added, returning the smile. "We've been together for a while now. Her... She used to live with someone else, but... He died. No one else would take her, so.... I did."
