"Heh." Mummy. The way she said it normally made his skin crawl. He associated any sort of British accent with finishing school bullshit. He couldn't differentiate between the two. However, she was actually making sense otherwise. She seemed strangely honest, and he liked that in people. Whatever else, they could at least be fucking straight with each other. Bloody prison was also apt, as far as he was concerned, and he liked that, too. "Fair enough," he allowed. "Everyone fucking cares what people think. Some just lie about it."
The schoolteacher bit surprised him. He wouldn't have guessed that. Listening to her was making him lose count of his sit-ups, but that hardly mattered. He'd just stop when he felt sore. "Yeah? Once had a thing for teachers, myself. You a teacher?"
That would make the bit about art history make sense. She didn't seem old enough to be a teacher at a college, but Marcus supposed she could have taught art or whatever at the high school level. It was possible she was just older than she looked, too.
