As much as she didn't want to admit it, he was probably right. Even though with what she'd been saying, they'd have changed places, the amount of infected Elliot, Miriam and Aaron had been facing that day had been far too much for three people to face down with nothing but a pistol and a crowbar. He'd have been dead. “I know,” she muttered in spite of herself. “I'm glad things are like they are. Well... most of them, anyway.” Taking into exception the infected roaming the streets and the fact that they weren't really safe anywhere anymore. This was one of those topics that they'd never agree on. She just needed to accept that.
“It's okay,” she told him, giving him a weak smile when he looked away. “I have faith in you, babe. You've become everything I knew you could be.” Stronger, more capable, tougher than anyone else she knew. “If anyone can run around out there and not get bitten, it's you. I just need to remind myself of that now and again.” And deal with the worry. If he could do it about her back when she was running around, she could do it for him now.
She shrugged. “The fact that I love you probably could help that along, right?” she asked with a little shrug. “And me reassuring you that no one but you and Little One matter. Would that help?” She paused and grinned a little bit. “You realize you're gonna have to share me with Little One right?” She nudged him with her hip. “Even if, by some miracle of nature, she turns out to be a boy?” Her tongue poked out.
“I'm looking forward to that,” Rae said genuinely. It wouldn't be the first time he'd sang to her, but she loved it. He didn't think much of his singing voice, but Rae loved it. “I get to pick the song, right? I promise it won't be anything ridiculous, but since I'll be the one winning, I feel like I've earned that right,” she nodded seriously.
“Right back at you. All that and you showed me what love is. What it's like to be loved. Gave me a whole new reason for fighting when the world took the rest of them away,” she pointed out, her face sobering for a moment at the thought of her parents. “Once again... we're best together. Work as a unit and would be totally lost without each other. I'd say we owe each other, but I think we're about even. Always. Which is what makes us great.” She chuckled a little bit, but she really was serious. She'd be lost without him.
When he kissed her, she chuckled lightly and looked up at him. “After a little more of that, maybe,” she said, raising one hand to pull him in for a kiss. “I think Leah mentioned something about us watching Marigold. You should totally tell her the story you just told Little One.” She paused and chuckled. “I think it'll be more of a miracle if we can get David to stop trying to feel my tummy.”
