“It makes you worry more because we don’t know if I’m immune,” he finished her trailing sentence. “I know. That’s why I don’t go out often. If it’d make you feel better, I guess I could just stop going out looting altogether. Get someone else to go after whatever I need.” He liked doing that about as much as he liked being among the infected. Elliot may have had lazy tendencies, but he didn’t like asking people to do things for him that he wasn’t willing to do himself.
“Any and all dudes in the lion pit, plus any and all ladies. This world-ruling kingdom of yours is gonna be pretty lonely with just us,” he teased. “But I’ll definitely make sure Stone’s the first guy I toss to the lions.”
“Aren’t you always the one who says playing the What If game is pointless?” Elliot smirked. “I’m glad we didn’t rush into a relationship right off the bat. It gave us time to develop as friends first.” He smiled, then scoffed when she took full claim to being the only sensational one the first night they were together. “Yeah, you guess. That’s why you can’t get enough of me now.”
Elliot wasn’t backing down in his certainty that they were having a boy. “The usual full body massage, bragging rights, and whatever happens in between,” he agreed. “I look forward to indulging in all of those.”
Elliot smiled and dropped his gaze, a moment of bashfulness overtaking him as Rae talked him up to their Little One. He didn’t know what it would be like when the baby was actually born, or how good of a parent he’d make, but he knew for certain that he’d do to absolute best he could to make sure his child knew it was loved. “Your mom’s pretty awesome, too,” he added. “Twice as amazing as what she told you about me.”
