The fireworks display at Sing Sing had been one of the best she'd seen in ages. Or maybe that was because it had been ages since she'd seen one. Either way, it was a nice way to cap off what was one of Rae's favorite summer holidays. The fact that it drove the infected away was a serious bonus. “I wonder if we'll find a way to take advantage of that in the future,” she pondered aloud when Elliot mentioned fireworks. “Set some off from the tops of the guard towers once a week and not only do people get a show, but we have a zombie free living for awhile.”
She turned her head and smiled at him, shrugging a shoulder when he pointed out the benefits. “It's still a nice break, though. I always kind of wondered what it was like, being in a beach house. Not that I don't like camping in campgrounds, but... we're totally living like the rich people this weekend,” she grinned wryly and wagged her eyebrows. “I think we should make this annual. So Little One has her chance to live a normal life.” Her grin went wry when she spoke of their baby being a girl.
“I don't mind the fans we have, though,” she shrugged a shoulder. Last summer, on a looting trip, she'd managed to find a few of those little portable fans with water spritzers, for her, Elliot, David and a couple of others. “Works wonders in the kitchen, let me tell you,” she added. It got hot in there sometimes. To the point that, for the baby's sake, she'd started having to leave early. “True,” she laughed softly, looking down at the sand and allowed the smile-side of her mouth to raise a little more. “We have showers and a laundry room. And ovens. Can't believe how far we've come from this time last year.” She paused... “Not just with technological advances, either. Us...” she added, turning her head, looking up at him. “It amazes me sometimes.”
Laughing again, she shrugged her head to the side and conceded his point with a nod and a jutted out lip. “True enough, I guess,” she lightly bumped him with her shoulder. “Somehow I doubt it'd have been as one-sided if Leah had played along, though.”
With a nod, she conceded to his point that it wasn't the first time in a long time that they'd had alone time, but in a few months, definitely. “David was pretty independent on that trip, too. Just like now.” Even if he was spending a lot of time with Ellie, he was still independent and hanging out off on his own. Her expression softened further when he repeated what she'd said, and she paused, looking down and placing his hand on her exposed belly. “Well, not just you and me...” she added. “We've got a little company. I bet Little One can hear us now...”
