It was a shame. The fact that swimmers made their homes in the depths, because Rae would've liked nothing more than to wade into the water. Feeling the ocean's waves lap against her body was one of her favorite feelings; brought her mind back to summers growing up when her parents took her to South Carolina for the summer and they stayed at one of the campgrounds near her Aunt Anna-Beth's apartment. Both of them were restricted now, though; for different reasons. And she wouldn't, anyway. She'd never rub it in Elliot's face, the fact that she could.
She turned her head when he responded to her, looking at him with a little smile on her face. The whole thing was just... romantic beyond reason. A warm-but-not-hot night, moonlit without a cloud in sight, holding his hand in hers... it was like something from a movie. But it was real, and it was happening now. “The only thing missing right now, taking from this being like something straight out of a movie? Are fireworks in the distance. Too bad you and David left them all behind at the compound,” she joked with a little bit of a smirk.
Though she was calmer than she'd been in months, she definitely wasn't totally relaxed. She knew that just because they couldn't see any infected... didn't mean there weren't any there. There was a treeline in the distance. Who knew what was lurking behind it?
The vague breeze from the west took her mind off of that for a moment, though, and she glanced down, smiling.
She laughed. “Oh, air conditioning,” she sighed wistfully. “Someday, one of those smart, sciency types will invent some kind of solar powered air-conditioner. They have to, or the zombies won't be the biggest threat anymore.” Her mind briefly went to all the cases of heat stroke they'd had that summer so far. “I hope I'm alive to see that day, because I will totally shove everyone out of the way so you and I can get the first blast of cool air,” she joked, playfully wagging her eyebrows once.
“True,” she smirked in return. “But if I was seeing your cranky face, I'd have to question your sanity. Especially after that crushing defeat we delivered to David and Evan earlier,” she nudged him lightly with her hip and stuck her tongue out. “It was hardly fair to call that game a game. More like a demonstration on how to lose...” she smirked. She shrugged her head to the side and then shook it. “Leah's not really bothering me. Hard to let anything bother me out here, I think.” She nodded. “So yeah. I'm having fun. Especially right now. Spending time with everyone is nice and everything, but... nothing beats this,” she looked at him with a loving smile on her face. “Just you and me, you know?”
