The beach was... absolutely gorgeous. Rae had always been a big fan of beaches. Warm sand, cool water, soft breezes... she loved all of it. Even if a small part of her was wondering if it was the beach that was nice, or the fact that it was a relatively zombie free place. Either way, the break from “normal,” a weekend away with most of her favorite people, was a nice change from being cooped up in Sing Sing's walls. The first night had been mostly setting up. Making their place comfortable. Rae and Elliot weren't in the master bedroom; Evan, Leah and Marigold had taken that and that was totally okay with her, because they had a cozy, comfortable little room with a full sized bed that provided plenty of opportunity for cuddling. Day two was spent having fun. For a little while, they'd played volleyball, then went to swim in the pool while Evan, Leah and Marigold built their sandcastle. Now, night was falling, and Rae had suggested a walk. And she couldn't have picked a better night for it. The moon was huge, and it and the stars reflected an almost ethereal glow on the water. It was warm, but not hot, and as they walked, tiny waves lapped at the shore a couple feet away. Rae wanted to step her toes in the water, but she refrained. Her experience with swimmers a few months back still colored her mind a little bit tentatively with natural bodies of water. “It's still so warm out. I love summer,” she chuckled a little bit. “Or at least nights in summer.” One of her hands held Elliot's gently, while the other was in the pocket of her shorts. "We have needed this for so freaking long," she chuckled as she looked over at him. "Are you having fun?" She hoped he was, because he'd needed the vacation for longer than she had. |
