Maybe Ellie had meant all pregnant women, but in the state of mind David was in, mostly everything was taken at face value. That was something that happened when he lit up. His mind simplified, but that was the way he'd always been. Now he was remembering when he'd suggested that Rae and Elliot get married. And, if he remembered later, he'd have to ask his brother where he stood on that.
Ellie spoke French and David's slightly-hazed mind was incredibly amazed by this thought. “You speak French...?” he asked her, then tilted his head when she said she was everywhere.
She was so blitzed right now. And it was hilarious. David started laughing a little bit, and leaned his head back, knocking the hat off of it and into the sand beside him... which only made him laugh louder. “Oops,” he murmured, reaching for it and looking over at Dog, placing it on her head instead. “Styling,” he muttered through his laughter.
If he wasn't sure he was high before, the way his mind wandered right to what color his name would be would've told him that. “I think mine would be... green.” He paused. “And not just because I like to get high,” he added as an afterthought. “But because... green's an earthy color, y'know? Aside from brown. And you'd be... pink. Bright pink,” he said decisively.
“When I was fifteen, I went through a phase when I wanted to shave my legs,” he admitted. “Cause I wanted to try out for the swim team. But I got made fun of for it. Guys are supposed to have hairy legs, I think.”
