Ellie had meant all pregnant women, but didn't have the mind to clarify. Instead she nodded, because David was right -- Rae had always been pretty, and she was Elliot's girl, and maybe it was weird. But then Ellie was thinking of loyalty, and perceptions of loyalty, and if there were anyone she thought of as a sister. Hard to know, being that she'd never had one before.
"Oui..." She heard herself respond. "I'm all over the place. I'm everywhere."
Again, the question of whether that had been said aloud. Everywhere. What if the moon were a listening device peeking over the horizon?
So "Why not?" Ellie asked instead. Then she blinked once or twice, returning David's glance with wide eyes. "Wouldn't you want to know what color your name is? It could have... a shape, too. And if I leaned on you a little -- like now -- maybe you'd hear it as music. You might even like... Like the music. Maybe that's how you'd know if you liked anyone at all."
The words were rambling, but amused; if Ellie were a color she'd be Pondering Pink. Yeah. I'm high.
"Your knee is hairy," she told David finally, drawing a circle on said knee with her fingernail. "That's all right, though."
