“True. I'm a champ at Drunk Checkers,” David grinned. He hadn't told Ellie about the brothers' favorite pasttime, but there wasn't much to tell. “Elliot always gets too sloppy when he's drunk, anyway.”
He chuckled. “Besides, Rae totally took us off-guard for the first set with her 'my belly's bigger than the beach ball' joke,” he shook his head.
The smell was familiar, and the breeze wafted a little bit of smoke into his face. It was odd, for a little tuft of smoke to make him smile, but it did. It was a reminder of the old days, he supposed. When things were simple and the biggest thing he had to worry about was arguing with his older brother about where he'd put the whatever he'd borrowed.
He accepted the items from her hand and nodded when she suggested he join her. “Don't mind if I do,” he grinned. “It's been too long since I've done this.”
So long in fact, that when he took his inhales, he coughed a little bit, but quickly recovered. And, as usual, it took a couple of seconds, but the high washed over him and he relaxed a little bit more in the chair.
He heard her giggle and he turned to her with a wry little smile. “Feeling it now, hm?” he asked, smoke pouring out as he spoke, offering Ellie her next turn.
