"Yeah?" Rory asked, as she cradled her son's head against her shoulder, as she calmly stroked his hair and waited for his cries to subside.
"Then why are you living all the way out here?"
Rory really didn't want to be accusing this girl of anything. She didn't want to ask if any of what she was rifling through actually belonged to her. She'd give her a chance to just come around, own up to whatever it was she had going on. But that would only last for so long.
There were trust issues resurfacing, of course. Rory didn't want another stranger plotting in silence, planning something horrible. She couldn't just trust the girl's word. She wouldn't.
