It wasn't until the woman spoke that Rory even realized she was there, and that strictly spoke to a mother's attention to their hurt child. Everything else slid away, at least briefly, when her baby started to cry. Even though Rory was already exhausted, even though he had been crying more than ever lately, it still put the fear of god into her heart. Metaphorically speaking, anyway. She didn't actually believe in god.
She looked up quickly once it was clear she and AJ weren't alone, and her free hand protectively moved to her son's back, just in case he needed to be pulled to her abruptly. Rory knew the people of Sing Sing, and she didn't recognize this girl. She didn't appreciate that she didn't recognize her.
"He fell. Needs his hand cleaned up," she said slowly, caution lining her words.
"You don't happen to have a band aid, do you?" It was a long walk back to her room, and it wouldn't hurt to ask. Especially since it kept Rory from asking where the hell the girl had come from. She'd just appeared when AJ started crying, and to Rory's knowledge, there weren't any people staying in these cells.
