"Do you believe in l'art pour l'art -- art for art's sake?" Ellie asked, haltingly. "I know something about art theory. I... I like philosophy."
She also thought she might like talking about it all day. About anything all day. That was something she could remember doing, in better times -- it seemed indulgent, a happy thought.
Whether or not she was worse for wear really was anyone's guess. Eloise did not know enough about her time alone to be able to judge. Certainly she'd become good at sneaking around. Somehow her lack of fear had become more defined, usable -- like a tool. There were things she knew how to do now that she hadn't known before. And yet, here she was.
"It's had good and bad points," Ellie said honestly. "Being here. A previous community I lived in was less organised. It's... Interesting, to see what's left of the government. To be protected. But it's also strange -- just... How people are. How they aren't."
