Mimi smiled and took the seat, not taking her eyes off the woman when she spoke, just so that she could be sure she saw what she said... if she said anything. A smile of her own crossed her face when she introduced herself, and she extended her hand in return.
“Miriam Caldwell,” she explained. “Call me Mimi, though.”
Though she hadn't quite made out the complete sentence the woman had just said, Mimi was sure enough to venture a guess. “So, you just got here, then?” she asked, setting the book down on the table, forgoing reading for a little bit of chit-chat. “Where'd you come from?”
