A hobby sounded preferable to her not that she got much chance to reply before her niece was tickling her. Laughing Kori went in for a retaliation tickle. She didn’t mind in the slightest that Marigold loved tickling her. It was sort of expected when around little kids or younger family members. She remembered being an obnoxious tickler herself when she was about Marigold’s age. She caught the little girls’ hands in hers and scooped her from her seat to hug her and put a stop to the tickling; for the time being.
“I think soccer might be the better option along with safer.” She agreed slightly breathless from laughing, shrugging at the mention of working on some craft. “Maybe we can do that after soccer? If we aren’t too tired when we finish.” She knew how much Leah didn’t get along with yarn and thread. She wouldn’t subject her to that if she could help it. This wasn’t about making one of them feel inferior to the other, it was about finding something they could do together. She also realized that the way she passed on knitting with Leah sounded sort of like she didn’t want to put in the effort. “It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t turn out like a commercial made scarf, even the stuff I make has mistakes in them.”
She paused pushing her bangs back behind her ear, “We can put together a quilt out of fabric scraps for this little munchkin instead of knitting, if you want to do something crafty.” She offered giving her niece another hug. She’d never tried to teach Leah something like that before and it was simple for the most part.
