I don't got a mommy. Rae's smile faltered at that. So that was what they'd told her. They'd told Leah that her baby was dead and Marigold that she didn't have a mommy. She wanted to say something, to tell her that she did, in fact, have a mommy, but it didn't seem right. And, a little bit selfishly, she couldn't help but think of the consequences. What would they do to her if they found out she was revealing their secrets to their "patients?" Maybe eventually.
"Maybe we should change our names to fit in, Rory..." Rae said in a calm voice, a joke to try and keep Marigold relaxed. "I'll be double-0-24 and you can be Dr. 28?" She wasn't sure if Marigold understood, but keeping herself calm was necessary. "What do you think?" she asked, turning her head toward Marigold with a sweet expression.
AJ's awakening proved itself a decent enough distraction for just enough time, and Rae called Rory's attention with a look, then very clearly mouthed the words: "Leah's daughter," then nodded her head toward Marigold, with a look that promised that she'd explain more later.
She turned her attention back to Marigold and smiled. "So, what do you do for fun around here, hm?" she asked casually.
