Brandon couldn't say that he blamed Zimmerman for his plan. If he could've gone back in time and changed one thing, it would've been fighting harder to get to Leah and Ben, and maybe stopping their whole lives from spinning out of control. But Zimmerman, as much as Brandon hated to admit it, was an asset. And if they ever wanted to take that facility? When they did go after these assholes to get the girls back? They needed him.
Maybe it was a good idea to walk away, but Brandon was on a streak of bad ideas anyway, so what reason was there not to keep it up right now? Besides, with a plan like stop the vehicles before they get too far? Brandon was really doing Zimmerman a favor here. Trying to think of a plan as quickly as he could, he moved around the corner and caught the eyes of Zimmerman's brother, trying to give him a look that told him that he was on their side here.
“What in the hell do you guys think you're doing?” he asked.
Planning on his toes. Something he was both very good and very bad at. Goad him. Goad him into fighting you and if you lose, then let David do his thing, but if you win, you can figure out what to do from there, he thought. Standing tall, he approached Zimmerman from behind, glaring him down. “C'mon, Zimmerman, don't you think those government fucks were doing the place a favor by getting rid of your girl?” he asked. “Just a shame she had to drag Rory down with her.” Low place to start, maybe. But if he wanted to properly goad the guy, he had to go big or go home. Especially since he seemed to have a one track mind right now.
“And besides, once you get there, what exactly do you plan to do, cry until they let you have her? Don't think it's gonna work on them. They aren't all whiny little bitches like you.”
Despite the straight-for-the-heart nature of his barbs today, he really did have the best of intentions... for the most part. Keep Zimmerman from getting himself killed today so that he could help when the time actually came to attack. Maybe a tiny piece of it was because of his grudge, but... he allowed himself to think that it wasn't.
