After hearing from Lilah that a second group of government soldiers had infiltrated their sanctuary and were tasked with snatching all the mothers attending Rory’s class, Elliot had no other concern but to get to that fucking room and keep his girlfriend and all the other mothers safe. Single-handedly, he wouldn’t be able to do much more than hold them off, but if he could manage to do that until backup arrived, then that was what he would do.
As it always seemed in dire situations like this, luck wasn’t on his side. By the time he reached the room where the class was held, the room was empty. For the first little while, he managed to keep a level head, enough to come up with the idea of tracking down one of the women who had been in attendance here. He was clinging to the hope that someone had gotten Rae and Rory and everyone out of there and safely in hiding before the soldiers even arrived, but he realized with growing anxiety that this was a defensive thought that kept him from giving consideration to any other possibility.
When the second woman he found confirmed that she’d seen men carrying Rae and Rory off, that’s when Elliot began to let the panic set in. His brother was with him, trying to keep him calm, but not doing a very good job. Elliot honestly couldn’t have cared at that point whether his brother was with him or not. Getting Rae back was his top priority, and if he had to do it himself, he would. Everyone else was so busy reclaiming control of the mayhem that they weren’t worried about who was missing yet.
With David trailing behind him, Elliot went to the garage, his intent being to go after the government soldiers before they got too far away. He had to get his girlfriend back before anything worse happened to her.
“I can and I am,” Elliot snapped. “And if I can catch up to them in time, I won’t have to storm the actual facility. Just stop the vehicles before they get too far. Not as dangerous that way. I have to get her back, David.”
He glared at David when the younger man said he’d fight him. “I’m not wasting time fighting you. Now get out of my way. The longer you delay me, the farther away those assholes get.”
