"Yeah," he chuckled a little bit. "That was me." The whole scene around the bear was a little embarrassing still, and the way O'Brien treated him still bothered him sometimes, but he was mostly over it now. "It was an interesting adventure, that's for sure," he laughed awkwardly. He would have argued that useful people survived all the time, with people like Elliot and Rae on their side, but he didn't. Instead, he just shrugged and smiled. "I guess not. Good point," he said softly.
David nodded his head. "The greenhouses are doing really well. Mr. Hamish, the guy who does most of the greenhouse work since our resident green-thumbed girl is usually in the labs, has been working on it a lot," he shrugged. "I think there were sprouts last time I was in there checking it out." He resolved to go in there more; he'd been too busy with his vet work lately. A break wouldn't be so bad. "You raise butterflies, too? I'm half-tempted to call you bug lady now." He was kidding, and his smile reflected that.
Shaking his head no, he chuckled. "I'm scared of plenty of things, but bees aren't one of them," he told her with a shrug and a smile. "I consider insects animals and I'm not scared of any animals." Or maybe he was, but if he was he had yet to encounter one. "Okay, what can I do to help? Or... what am I able to do with a box of puppies in my arms?" he added with a small laugh.
"That's kind of neat," he chuckled. "Funny what people come up with when they need to get a job done," he added arbitrarily. "So, where do we start looking?"
He shrugged and looked down at the box in his hands. "Her name was Allie," he said, a sad half-smile on his face. He looked up now, trying to right his expression and shrugging. "They were pretty close. Sort of alike in how they were always positive, you know? It was tough for her to lose that friendship."
