There was a little bit of silence, and Kris used it to his advantage, finishing off the panel and sliding out from underneath it. He looked over at the next one, scooting toward it and gathering his supplies with a long, lanky arm, before laying back down and starting the process over again. Once again, he reminded himself that this was for the good of everyone else as well as for himself. It was worth it, if only for morale. It had to be.
He laughed when she changed her tune after the mention of showers, twisting the wires together before he taped them where they belonged. "I'd accept my praise now," he mused, completely joking but not saying so much aloud. If she legitimately wanted to praise him for this, he was not going to turn it down. "Be sarcastic all you want but the truth of the matter is that this isn't nearly as easy as it would have been five years ago," he explained. The same could be said about anything, of course, but he was risking his neck and his sanity for a group of people who had to this point been pretty thankless about it. He had to figure that it would be better when things were all set up. "Not even close," he added.
