Shaking his head lightly he grinned. "Can we do this without Gone With the Wind references cause that story ain't exactly what anyone's life should be like." He had read it, twice. And back then he couldn't believe all the tragedies that happened to that woman. That was, of course, before he grew up and had his own set of tragedies flung at him. But most of all he had discovered that he hated Scarlett with passion. Rhett wasn't very likable either, but that woman was even worse.
Most relationships he had witnessed in his life hadn't really motivated him to want one of his own. The thing his parents called marriage was a screwed up mess in itself, held together by unhealthy doses of alcohol, mental instability and plain old routine. The only good thing it had done for him was show him how he didn't want to be. All the others around him were less than encouraging, mostly ending due to fun fits of jealousy, causing fights nobody could really want to be a part of. The few good examples had to be exceptions to the rule, he was sure of it. Right now he was a little less skeptical and more willing to believe that it could work, maybe. Cutter gave her a brief squeeze, pressing her as close to him as he dared. It would work out, somehow.
"I was gonna talk to him once we came back from Montgomery. Cause I know how he's gotta feel if a delinquent like me takes interest in his sister." There were the red ears again, but why not tell her now that he knew she felt the same way about it. It didn't matter anyway because the situation was different now and although part of him wished Rodeo would just wake up and find out this way he just couldn't bare the thought of doing that to him. They had to be straightforward and tell him and give Rodeo a proper chance to kill his best friend. "Yeah, he'll come around. After he's done beatin' my corpse to pulp." he said, with a lopsided grin he wished was all real. But he really felt his stomach turn at the thought of it.
