Rory was quick to frown when she properly saw Casey, despite her amusement over AJ latching uncomfortably onto the man. He looked awful, rather similar to the way she figured he might end up looking. She could tell he wasn't sleeping well, and Rory could think of a few reasons why sleep might've been unkind to him lately. It bothered her more than she'd admit, seeing how bad he was handling things, knowing he was probably avoiding her even though she could help him.
There was no telling why AJ was staring at Casey, but it probably wasn't the bags under his eyes, just the hood encompassing his head. Rory walked behind AJ and dropped into a squat to wrap an arm around the boy, squish him into a hug. That made him giggle and knocked him out of his staring contest rather quickly.
"Can you blame him? It's a nice cat," she said, reluctant to say much more than that.
