Rory was just about in love with the fact that the days were getting longer. It hadn't even mattered before, not in any manner that she considered overwhelmingly relevant. Extra daylight was good when you were outside of a safehouse and running for shelter, sure, but since AJ, Rory hadn't been out on too many evening jaunts. Right now, though, Rory was watching her kid run merrily ahead of her, and that was completely fine. Didn't matter that it was getting dark, or that she still had a ways to go before the pair of them were home. Sing Sing was safe.
To say she was completely comfortable with AJ scampering off ahead wouldn't be entirely true, but there was no dire sense of dread when he started running towards the man in the hoodie. Or, realistically, towards the cat said man had trailing him. Rory watched AJ, following behind, but it took the boy practically dropping into the man's lap for her to realize this was Casey.
And that made her laugh despite herself. "He likes you," she said as she closed to distance between them, pleased that AJ was too busy staring at the face inside the hood to actually try and tackle Lucy the cat.
