WotD - Yami no Matsuei - Nimiety
Wandering around LJ, I happened across this entry, which had a rather nice idea...drabbles to Word of the Day! Hoping to get myself writing again, I will attempt to try this at least a few times (unlikely I could manage one every day.) They'll be unpolished, ugly things, but better than nothing. So here goes....
nimiety \nih-MY-uh-tee\, noun: The state of being too much; excess
Series: Yami no Matsuei / Descendants of Darkness Characters: Hisoka, Tsuzuki Count: 120 Etc: no spoilers or warnings aside from my bad writing.
There were times when the world seemed about to burst at the seams, overflowing with life, emotion--something intangible yet heavy and suffocating.
He forgot to breathe in those moments, overwhelmed by sensation and lost to reality.
Lost to himself, even, because he was so small in comparison to that flood of feeling. No single being could handle that tide, it simply was not possible.
Then he saw those multi-faceted violet eyes and watched the impossible being before him fold back into something almost normal, the excess swept back under layers of outer shell.
Hisoka had never met anyone else who felt so much, too much for any one man to hold.
