Academic and Occupational • Attends Ashbury Academy for Young Men (2007-2011)
• Attends University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English Education for grades 6 and 7. (2011-2017)

• Brings Jeremy as his date to a school dance and is subsequently asked by the school to not return the next semester (early 2019)
• Successfully sues the school for discrimination and gets his job back, thanks in part to testimonies from his students, including a student, Micah, who essentially came out to the entire courtroom to tell them about how Sam was counseling him and teaching him that it was okay for him to be gay (late 2019)
• Starts a Gay-Straight Alliance at the school and starts going back to college via correspondence and taking night classes for his Masters in Guidance and Counseling (2020)

• Discovers he's gay after skinny dipping with his step-brothers (2003)
• Officially comes out to first his mother, and then his father a month later (2005)
• Loses virginity to Ryan Cooper, his "boyfriend" on his thirteenth birthday (2006)
• Moves with his mother and step-father to Boston (early 2007)
• Falls head over heels for Jeremy Garrett some time during his Freshman year and successfully convinces him to give him a chance in the middle of their Sophomore year. They continue to defy logic and stay together through high school (2007-2011)
• Invites Jeremy to spend the summer with him and take an adventure to Seattle to find his mom (2009)
• Somehow manages to survive a long distance relationship with Jeremy while the other is attending school in Washington State, and while their summers are amazing, their reunion when Jeremy and his mom move to Texas is out of this world (2011-2015)
• Things start to go downhill until, on Christmas, he and Jeremy end up in the hospital for exhaustion after a sex marathon and an intervention is staged on January 2nd, (end of 2018-beginning of 2019)
• One of Sam's students, Micah, starts withdrawing and falling behind in class. During a detention he serves for skipping class, he breaks down and admits to Sam that he has a crush on another boy in the class and he doesn't know what to do. Sam starts meeting with Micah every day to help him catch up with his work and try to reassure the boy that it's alright to be gay. It's during this time that Jeremy gets home from rehab and Sam celebrates by bringing him to a school dance that he's been asked to chaperone. Two weeks later, he's asked by the school not to return the next semester and lawsuit ensues. (2019)
