It took a few minutes for Laura to fine a cold pack. She had started to believe that she was going to have to make a trip to the nurse when she finally found one in the first aid kit that was buried in the house kitchen. As kind as the nurse could be Laura didn’t want to explain what it was for. Not that she was expecting to get a lecture for caring about her boyfriend. She would merely rather not have to deal with the situation at all right now.
The way things currently stood she was eerily composed, outwardly anyway. Inside she was warring with herself. On the one hand she would love to find Alec and give him a piece of her mind and dock more points from Zebul for fighting. On the other and more rational side of things she knew that wouldn’t help anything. Leaving Mathey she promised herself she was going to try to be mostly calm by the time she got to Araboth. She was not one to want revenge, her concern should be on Salvatore, who was quite capable of taking care of himself and didn’t need her butting into things. Besides being subtly annoyed while with him probably wouldn’t go over well when and if he caught on. She didn’t hold much faith in it only being an if considering past situations.
Taking a deep breath she paused about halfway there. Giving in to the vain need to appear like she hadn’t just torn apart all of Mathey she ran her free hand through her hair. Hopefully that helped; if only a little bit. She wasn’t too fond of the idea of having frizzy hair and normally she’d remedy it by pulling her hair back. Of course now would be the one moment that she was not wearing a hair tie around her wrist as she usually was. The lack or pressure from the elastic that was usually around her wrist a little strange. Satisfied she started walking again.
It took only a few more minutes for her enter the Araboth common room. Her eyes scanning the room for a familiar face. In a corner was a group of kids doing something; she assumed it was homework. Otherwise the room was mostly empty with only a few people scattered about. She wasn’t expecting Salvatore to be in the common room waiting for her. And as awful as it sounded she was glad Anya seemed to be occupied elsewhere. The girl would have stopped and talked to her if she were there to notice her presence. But she wasn’t so Laura made her way up to the dorms.
Her fingers crossed that she would pick the right room on the first try. It was a little embarrassing but she didn’t know what room he was in or to think to ask for it before agreeing to see him. She should probably work on actually thinking before agreeing to do something in those cases. One of the rooms had its door open ajar. Maybe she should try that one first. She might get lucky. Stopping before it she knocked and waited, she’d announce herself but then it could still be the wrong room. She didn’t exactly like the idea of some boy answering the door and getting amusement out of her having the wrong room.
