Hanging it with the rest of the coats and jackets, Laura slid the closet door closed and turned back around. He’d moved since she’d taken his jacket and was now standing at the bottom of the stairs. She figured he must have seen something that caught his interest. Not that she could say what since she was fairly sure there wasn’t anything really interesting down in the foyer. But then there could be some tchotchke that he didn’t recognize. She wasn’t about to pretend she knew what he was familiar with and what he wasn’t. It would take all the fun out of getting know him.
She tilted her head, “Okay?” Moving away from the closet Laura crossed the foyer and stopped in front of him a confused look on her eyes. For a few seconds she tried to figure out why he’d asked her to come over and then she caught sight of the mistletoe at the edge of her vision. How easily she forgot that was even in her home. She was fairly sure her father had already taken it all down before he’d arrived. Apparently they had missed it or her mother was trying to turn their plans for the evening into something else. She loved her mother but sometimes she got carried away with her own thoughts. “I think this means we’re supposed to kiss.” She said a hint of amusement in her eyes as she tilted her head back a little to meet his gaze.
