Jannie was being rude, Reo decided. The drug she must have been taking was wearing off, that was good. Reo rolled her eyes and drummed her fingers, showing her irritation. She was easily annoyed these days, and Jannie was really getting on her nerves. So far Jannie had been acting like a spoiled pesky girl, that was not a description Reo liked in a person.
Reo was half-inclined to just shake some sense into the girl, she was that close to being smacked in the head. “You just don’t get it, do you? I am not denying anything, nothing-I repeat: nothing-has been off with me, okay?” And even if she were, why would it have any connection to Jannie? If there was a spell gone wrong, the victims would have been someone close to Jannie, not someone whom she barely knew. It did not make sense to Reo.
This was getting nowhere. Reo sat up sraight, trying to look imposing. “Just leave, please.”
