Reo blushed, blinking rapidly. Had she been smiling? She did not notice. Reo continued smiling, slightly dimmer than before. Lying was one of her fortes, and only the most trained people would have noticed. “I just thought of something.” There was no way she would admit that she was thinking of Jae, who was one of Jannie’s best friends.
Moving on to Jannie’s earlier question, “You were the one who said this was the result of another warlock spell gone wrong, and that just fits into the stereotype.” Reo objected, sighing a bit at the end. This was not how Reo had planned to spend her lunch, debating weirdness of all things.
“Wait...why is this Jae’s fault?” Reo could not think of any reason. She shoved her plate a few centimeters away and placed her elbow by it. Wallowing in self pity had been the plan for the day, but Jannie was not co-operative. It was too bad, really.
