Reo’s eyes followed Jannie’s hand as she reverted from tapping, clenching, and then to her head. It was making her nervous, like she should just reach out and clamp her hand over Jannie’s to stop it from moving like that. It was annoying and making her uncomfortable. Frowning, Reo vaguely remembered that she used to do that; deja vu couldn’t have summed things up any better. She shifted her gaze to Jannie’s face.
Thinking back, Reo did notice that she was oddly calmer and quieter than usual. Her perkiness seemed to have upped and gone as well. But...that did not mean that she was acting weird. She quickly dismissed it, thinking that Jannie’s weirdness was affecting her now.
Jannie’s mention of a spell caught her attention, a spell had gone wrong Jannie said. Warlocks. Scoffing, “You warlocks must have trouble embedded into your DNA, it’s always spells gone wrong, or demons set loose or hexes.”
Jannie being worried about Alec was what finally convinced Reo. Jannie-—what was up with that expression on her face?-—was right, she would not have been worried about Alec Montague. Something was very wrong with that picture. And on the topic of gorgeous men, Jannie’s revelation did explain Reo’s sudden infatuation with Jae. The same Jae Reo had been dreaming of. An involuntary smile appeared on Reo’s face.
