Though he did try, Jae wasn't quite able to keep his little charade going for very long, and seconds after she began fumbling he felt a grin spreading across his face. In a weird way, she was kinda cute... sure, she was, like, intimidatingly tall for a girl, but there was something kind of endearing about a chick who actually took his jokes seriously. Either he was a really, really good actor, or she just didn't laugh enough.
Either way, once she was finished delivering her excuse, he snorted and waved his hands a bit, his palms open and his fingers splayed. "Psssht.~ Yo baby yo baby yo baby, it's aaall good," Jae said, and beamed at her as he folded his arms back over his book. "I was just messin' with ya! It was a joke, y'know? Like, 'haha, funny?'" He stared at her for a second, and then, without giving her enough time to respond, shook his head and dismissed the topic with a wave. "Whatever. Anyway, it's all good, so don't worry about it.~ Like my bros back in LA always said to me, you can't ever underestimate the power of love and a funky beat. Just gotta rooooll with it.~"
If his insinuating that Misae and Jaidev had a Thing bothered her, well, Jae didn't really notice, because as soon as he was done glancing around, he looked back at her, leaned across the table a bit and changed the subject. "So!" He began, his voice loud enough to cause the boy two tables over to jerk his nose out of his textbook in panic. "What're you doin' sitting by yourself here? Pretty girl like you."
