Finals week was totally not Jae's favorite time of the year.
To be fair, it probably wasn't ANYONE'S idea of fun, but with the way he tended to deal with it, it was as if it was some sort of medieval torture. Not only did he have to actually study for things, but it required him to not only stay inside but remain stationary for more than two minutes, which as many of the professors probably knew was nigh impossible for him to do during a regular school day. He couldn't help it, man... there was just so many things to do and places to go and sights to see, and he was just too young and full of YOUTHFUL EXUBERANCE to allow himself to be so easily restrained!!
Now, though, he didn't have a choice. Especially on that particular day – he had an exam in Economics the following morning, and while it wasn't necessarily his weakest subject, it definitely wasn't his best, either. He couldn't even get himself psyched up for it with a little physical activity beforehand – it was too cold outside, one, and Blitzball practice, which was normally held on Thursdays anyway, had been canceled. He swore to God the faculty did that specifically to persecute him, seriously. How was he supposed to be able to function without his sports, man??
Whining about it didn't seem to help matters much, though, and, finding nothing more he could do about the situation and not really wanting to study in the already congested Rakiah common room, he threw on some casual clothes, grabbed what he needed to study and booked it to the library. It wasn't snowing outside or anything, but he still had the hood of his sweatshirt pulled up over his head, accompanied by a pair of dark shades. With finals came the yearly Finals Week Migraine, and even though he was used to it happening and had taken something for it, he was still a little light sensitive. Having to suffer through his Potions exam under the critical eye of his least favorite professor EVER hadn't really improved matters much, either... grrrr.
However, as he'd meandered into the library from the cold, he'd decided to try and make the best of it and not take it out on anybody, so when he saw Misae sitting at a table that was otherwise empty, he wasted no time whatsoever in meandering on over and claiming the spot across from her for himself, lowering his sunglasses at her and flashing a grin as he dropped his books onto the table. “Hey! 'Sup? Workin' hard?” He asked, the picture of Friendly despite how violently his brains were throbbing in his skull. “Hope you don't mind me sittin' here. There's, like, hardly any room in this joint.”
Despite having the decency to ask, though, he didn't wait long enough for her to respond, immediately dropping into the chair across from her, flipping his book open, and then looking at her curiously as he tried... tried to figure out where he'd seen her before. Seriously, he talked to so many people around this place he couldn't even keep track anymore.
