Who: Sonya Bure (Pea) & OPEN
What: Random interaction
Where: Cafeteria
When: Lunch time Wednesday
Rating: SFW

Sonya was managing to attend classes through all this ordeal, and she had even managed control her powers or so it seemed. She would just prefer to have her own light to dark powers back. She had not exactly attempted her powers today so she didn't know if she had them back as it had appeared the sniffling and sneezing had stopped. Pea would discover what exactly her situation was in last class of the day, elemental magic. Right now she was just sitting with her headphones in pushing food around the plate in the cafeteria. Pea was sitting alone with Watchmen open on the table flipping through the images while she avoided eating or occasionally picked up a carrot to munch on. Pea looked like she was involved in both her music and her book when in truth her mind was on this 'plague' and more importantly (at least in her mind) her dinner date with Rocky.

Pea shut her book and carefully placed it in her backpack. She couldn't even pretend to focus on Rorschach who amused her greatly. She had read Watchmen multiple times it was a gift from a student who finished school last year. It was strange reading it in English as most of the books she owned were in German. Still the matter was that she was very distracted by the coming events of the evening. Pea was excited about it, but was attempting to remain calm not wanting to start any tremors or the like.

Her focus now was more so on the food on her plate as she started to push it around. She just was not feeling her vegetarian plate not particularly hungry as it had disappeared at the arrival of her nervous excited energy. If it were not for the music she probably would be a jittery mess.

People were still feeling the effects of Misae's mishap judging by the state of the cafeteria. It was really inconvenient, with exams coming up and all. It was impossible to try to study anywhere, someone would sneeze and their desk would burst into flames or a giant bear would go rushing down the hall, only to turn into a naked student moments later. It was funny the first few days, after she realized she wasn't going to get caught at least. Now however, it was just obnoxious. She had planned on studying through her lunch, but the library was currently being evacuated for some reason or another, so Misae ended up in the cafeteria.

She usually avoided the cafeteria at all costs, she didn't really know a lot of people and most of the people she did know had been pulled out of school. It just made for awkward moments trying to figure out where to sit. Glancing around she saw Sonya sitting at an otherwise empty table. They had classes together and the girl seemed nice enough. Besides, she was sneezing earthquakes the day before. Tentatively Misae approached the table, standing a foot or so away from it before she softly asked, "Would it be alright if I sat here?"

Pea felt like she was being watched, it was one of those moments. As a song ended she heard the voice of someone talking to her. Pulling her headphones out quickly she looked up at Misae and smiled brightly. "Of course sit down," she spoke confidently, but really just hoping that was what the girl had said in the first place. Pea didn't really know Misae all that well other than spotting her in classes together and so forth.

"How are you?" She asked brightly, pleased to have company and a distraction from her nerves of the future date. Sonya hoped that Misae would turn out to be the distraction she needed.

It was a relief to hear the words sit down. Misae took a seat across from Sonya, setting down a plate of, whatever it was she had gotten in the cafeteria line. She wasn't one to pay much attention to what the food actually was. "Thanks," she replied.

For some reason it always surprised Misae when people asked how she was. She didn't quite understand small talk. "I'm alright," Misae answered, pushing her food around her plate with her fork. It appeared to be roast chicken with a mysterious gravy, accompanied by potatoes and broccoli. "How about you, you seemed to have that cold that's been going around yesterday?"

Pea watched as the chicken was pushed at her plate. A moment of slight disgust came over her face but it quickly vanished. Many people ate meat and that was something she had to accept. Heck sometimes she even missed it, bacon was generally the culprit. Sonya put her ipod away as it was rude to listen to music with company at the table.

"That was annoying," she grumbled. "I was sneezing up earthquakes." She took another vegetable from her plate. "I am glad it cleared up." Pea was extremely glad as she didn't want it to ruin her date this evening while she was sneezing up earthquakes.

Misae didn't notice Sonya's facial expression, more focused on stabbing a piece of potato with her fork. Chewing slowly, she tilted her head sympathetically when Sonya complained about her day with earth mage abilities. Honestly, Misae was a bit jealous that for all the havoc her spell had brought, she didn't even get the chance to try out one other power, which had been her intention all along.

"Earthquakes?" Misae inquired after she finished the potato, raising an eyebrow. "Well, at least it was another mage ability? They're similar to control I'd imagine." Stabbing at another potato, she looked back up at Sonya. "It cleared up quickly at least though."

"True it was nice to have some control over it. It was basically the same, just a little different." Did that make any sense? Sonya didn't even want to question it at the moment because she was just pleased that it was gone. "At least it is gone, true, and at least I didn't do any damage." Sonya chuckled as she looked at Misae. "Did you find yourself sick or anything?" Sonya didn't even know what to classify this epidemic as.

Misae nodded in agreement and understanding. She had picked up from Pen's incident with being a fire mage that the energy felt different to them or something, but in theory it was the same. It was sort of fascinating in a way. "Yeah, well, better something you're used to than being a Therian and ending up naked in the Quad," Misae sighed, watching a first year run by with an armful of clothes, trying to get them to someone, somewhere. "I felt a bit sick early in the week, but I'm not sure it was what everyone else seems to have caught," Misae shrugged. "I didn't have any new abilities or anything at least."

Pea went wide-eyed, "I would be mortified if I ended up in the Quad naked." Pea could not even dream of being a Therian and not have control over it. She had never been naked in front of anyone since she was a baby in diapers. "Not something I would enjoy to experience and I am definitely glad I got Rocky's ability as I had someone to coach me through it and I had some general control." Pea noticed as a first year went running by, "I guess someone wasn't so lucky," she whispered.

"Well I suppose you're one of the lucky ones." Sonya grinned at Misae. "Well as long as you feel better now though right?"

Shoveling another potato into her mouth, Misae nodded, horrified at the thought of ending up naked in front of the rest of the student body. One wouldn't have guessed it by looking at her, Misae had a great figure and when she wasn't in uniform she tended to dress to accentuate it, but like most teenage girls, she wasn't at all comfortable with her body. "Oh I definitely think the people who got Therian powers got the worst of it. I can't imagine how embarrassing it would be," she said.

"I suppose so," Misae answered. She had come to accept it was probably for the best her spell had backfired. Judging by the fact that mages had difficulty controlling mage powers from a new element, she didn't think she would have fared too well controlling a type of power she'd never used before. "Yeah, it was a short sickness too, glad it cleared up before exams."

Sonya looked at Misae with a big smile. "Exactly, look at the bright side even if exams are not exactly the bright side." Sonya was not in favour of examinations but at least people were getting better. "I would have hated being sick and studying for exams any longer than I had to endure." Sonya looked at Misae as she chatted away, being the usual chattery self. It had turned out the conversation was the perfect distraction from her nervousness of the evenings date.

"I am hoping that sickness will run its course soon, but since it is just appears to be a one day sort of thing it shouldn't take too long to disappear." She said as she picked up some more of the vegetables taking a bite. "So, any good plans for the winter holidays?"

Exams were something Misae didn't mind for the most part. She might have lacked some of the skills to succeed socially, but when it came to traditional book-smarts, she excelled. Still, even the most natural of students had no desire to study while sick. Plus, even though exams at Idris never went what one describe as smoothly, she couldn't imagine the sort of disasters that would ensue if it didn't clear up quickly. She'd feel a bit guilty if someone failed their exams because they were unable to use their abilities. "Yeah, it'd be terrible if it didn't clear up in time for exams."

Misae thought about her holiday plans. She wasn't exactly looking forward to going home, but her mother and brother had insisted given the current climate at Idris. Her brother had already once discussed her leaving school and moving in with him, but she couldn't leave. She'd have to give up her magic and she wasn't willing to do that. That said, it was better than hanging around school. "Nothing exciting, I'm just going home to Oklahoma. What about you?"

"So we all best be thankful we are capable of taking our exams," Pea paused, "I never thought I would ever say that." She said with a laugh as she continued to pick at her food. She looked down at her watch realizing there was only about twenty minutes left of lunch.

"I am going home to Bruges." Pea was not in the least bit excited about it. "I would rather stay here, but they want me to come home for Christmas." Pea would actually rather spend it with Rocky but she didn't know if he wanted too. "I dislike it at home, they speak French and Flemish. I can speak French but Flemish not even close to that. I don't see why he had to move there."

Misae offered a slight smile at Sonya's comment. It was funny how one day with someone else's abilities could change a perspective on exams. "I suppose we should," she replied, before poking at her food again.

Even though Misae could understand not being excited about going home for the holidays and being strongarmed into it by one's family, she was a tiny bit jealous that everyone else seemed to come from a more interesting location than her. There really wasn't much to do in Pawhuska. "Yeah, my mom wants me home, so I kind of have to go, but Bruges, it's at least interesting right? Where I come from, honestly the most interesting thing is the Osage headquarters and it isn't really very exciting at all," she sighed, taking another forkful of her lunch.

Sonya laughed and shook her head. "Bruges is boring, your home sounds more interesting." She laughed as she shifted positions. "Anywhere that isn't home is much more interesting than home." Bruges wasn't that interesting to Sonya after she had been there for a summer. "But I think that is the way it suppose to me, makes us travel."

"You should tell me how your trip home goes. See if it turns out any more interesting than you expect it too." Sonya hoped Miase would, she always enjoyed hearing about others vacations, mainly because it allowed her not to focus on her own holidays.

"Really? It always looks so pretty in pictures," Misae said. She supposed all of Europe was pretty like that though. Pawhuska wasn't exactly what you'd describe as pretty. Just outside the city there were the plains, the bison preserve, those things were pretty. The city itself though left a lot to be desired. "I suppose you're right," she agreed, although she was fairly certain a few pictures of Pawhuska would prove the girl wrong. Pawhuska had to be the dullest place on earth.

Misae nodded. "Sure," she replied, sounding almost cheerful. She'd have to modify the stories a bit of course, maybe just leave her dad out entirely. She planned to spend most of her time with Shonka anyhow, he at least made things bearable. "You'll let me know how yours goes too?"

"It is pretty, but it doesn't stop it from being boring once the pretty wears off." Pea was also determined to loath the place on principle, though she didn't need to share that with Misae. She would rather just keep to the idea that everywhere else seemed more interesting then your home town.

"Of course I will tell you, you might even get a letter or something." She always loved writing people over the holidays, whether the things arrived in time or not. "But I promise we shall have an exchange of stories." Pea grinned from ear to ear.

"Anyway as lovely as it has been to chat, I have to run and grab things for class." She didn't want to blow Misae off, and in truth if she could she would sit here chatting away all day but class called.
