Who: Jannika and Logan
What: Early morning run.
When: Sunday morning.
Where: Outside, forest area
Rating: SFW

In all honesty as much as Jannika was a morning person, being up before the sun rose was not something she considered as fun but after yet another restless night of tossing and turning she needed something to do and when it doubt, running was always a good idea. So, she'd gotten out of bed and dressed for the cool morning before heading out.

It wasn't really dark outside thankfully, dawn was already approaching and it bathed everything in a dim light but it still didn't keep her from wishing she had better eyes than she did. Most things were just large shadows moving around accompanied by the occasional sound of a bird chippering or the sound of wet ground under her feet. Her breath made clouds of steam that quickly evaporated in the cool air and with her eyes fixed rather firmly ahead of her she'd pushed past a lot of her thoughts and worries.

By the time she came to a halt she was panting hard but smiling, the thick braid of hair hung down in her face as she bent over, pressing her palms to her knees as she took a second to catch her breath and enjoy the distinct lack of anxiety and stress she'd been feeling over the last week.

Logan hummed happily to himself as he took a slow warming jog around the school. It was nice to go out on his own every once in a while, and not have to keep up with anyone. Just a slow, self-satisfying run in the early morning dew to start the day...

Or at least, that's what he told himself.

There was just something so surreal about the academy in the morning. Shrouded in early mist, with not a soul in sight... It was a mystical, magical sight that Logan never got sick of. The view was enough to give him pause in his life, to question and think with a clarity that he had found hard to maintain recently. Things were just getting so complicated, with school, with family, with friends... It was nice to be alone.

As such, Logan was a little surprised to find someone else in the vicinity. None of the other students liked to take early morning runs, to his knowledge at least. Curious, he jogged over, making sure to crunch a few twigs underfoot so as not to surprise her. Surely it was a girl with that braid... "Morning!"

Hearing a branch snap and the sound of someone approaching her made a feeling of dread settle in the pit of her stomach but the voice that came was not the one she'd expected and with an almost surprised look on her face she straighened up.

"Morning." She gave him a quick once over, tossing the braid back over her shoulder before crouching down to re-tie her shoes, maybe if she didn't really pay any attention to him, he would leave her alone and she could go back to what she had been doing before he showed up.

He recognised the face, and rubbed at cheek as he approached even closer. Logan had a bad memory for names, but he was sure he knew her... She was in a few of his classes, and had definitely...

"Jannika right? I didn't know you liked to run in the mornings," Logan berated himself silently for forgetting her name, offering her a broad smile, "You take this route often?"

He politely stood to the side as he spoke to her, straightening out his track suit and stretching his calf.

...no such luck huh? Well it had been worth the try. "Every now and then." She stood up again, the top of her head reaching about chest hight on the man opposite of her and she had to turn her head up a bit to be able to look at him.

"And I don't usually run in the morning. But I was up so might as well do something of it." Plus she was too distracted to actually work on her spells and had too much energy to either read or do editorial work. Jannika just stood there and looked at him for a bit before she shook her head and started walking, slowly picking up her pace into a jog.

"Oh?" Logan didn't realise how much of a height difference there was between them until she stood up properly, and found himself subconscious slouching to lessen that difference. He was in mid-stretch when she started walking again, and quickly fell into step next to her, following her pace.

"Yea? Sounds good. Morning runs are really the best..." He was unperturbed by her actions and words, jogging easily next to her, his long legs eating up the ground faster than hers. "Going far today?" Keeping her company might be a good idea, considering the news about missing and dying students recently...

It wasn't that she wasn't used to people being taller than her, sort of came with being short but this guy really was pushing it. Probably not his fault but it still irked her a bit and even more so the slight slouch she picked up before she took off.

When he caught up with her she couldn't help but scowl a little. "Yeah? That so?" Jannika wasn't sure if she came off as curious or not, and honestly couldn't really care either which way. "I don't know yet, I thought I'd run and see how long it took me to get bothered by people." Well, no one said she had to be friendly with him, he was intruding on her alone time after all.

He winced a little at her tone. Okay, so maybe he did deserve that, but Logan was pretty sure someone had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Or not slept enough, considering what she had said earlier. Still, it would be wrong for him to let her run alone, given the situation, and kept up with her silently, looking at his feet as they jogged.

And he was still not leaving her alone? What was this, bug Jannika day? Then again he was sort of annoying to start with.

"Can I help you with something?" She asked, her tone clearly annoyed as she kept looking straight ahead, slowly furling her hand before unfurling them again, the small movements serving to keep her sides from cramping up on her as they had a bad tendency to do.

Well, its not like Logan was trying to annoy her. He was just worried for the welfare of a fellow student, and his beast was admiring the way her legs moved as she ran.

Horses.

Logan shook his head, before realising she couldn't see the action. "Nope. Just going on my morning run as per usual." He couldn't help the friendly nature to his tone, tilting his head as he watched her move her hands back and forth. "Are you all feeling all right?"

Maybe she was ill, or had some past injury. The jump of concern was immediate.

"What?" Jannika actually had to glance over at him when he asked if she was alright, suddenly really worried she might be too obvious in her emotional chaos. Slowing down a bit she turned her head further to look at him, confusion clearly written on her features.

"Why wouldn't I be feeling all right?" And really, if she wasn't what issue of his was it anyway.

Logan blinked slightly, finding her response to be very... odd. Keeping to her pace, he slowed too, blue eyes examining hers. There was just something misplaced about her today, something that just didn't sit right.

He smiled and shrugged, "You just seem... off?" Curiosity always got the better of Logan, and today was no different. "Is there anything wrong with school or family or friends?" His tone was light, "I mean, if you don't wish to share, that's okay too."

So you could tell, crap. His words just made her eyebrows knit together a bit before she finally snapped at him. "I'm up before the crack of dawn running myself sweaty, of course something's off with me."

If she'd been less than friendly with him before it had suddenly turned even more sour and she fixed him with a hard glare before turning her eyes to the path ahead of them again.

Who did he think he was? A friend? He was just someone she shared classes with, nothing else so how dare he ask her something like that and then have the balls to say that she didn't have to share if she didn't want too. Hell she hadn't even shared this with Arion so no way in hell she'd share it with Logan.

Wow. Someone had her panties in a bunch today. Subconsciously, he jogged a little further away from her, keeping a slight distance. Logan wasn't sure what Jannika was capable of, but he didn't want her full wrath coming down on him.

He kept up with her in silence, face tinged red with embarrassment at being so stupid with her. "Sorry." Logan muttered a soft apology, looking horribly guilty and sad as he jogged alongside her.

His apology was responded to with a short snort and as he fell back a bit she picked her pace up. The earlier calmness she'd felt was gone and she found herself in a state of annoyance, not that it was that much of an uncommon place for her. Just antsy and annoyed and really, really wanting to hurt something.

The gym was starting to sound like a really good idea, a couple of hours in there and maybe then she'd be exhausted enough to get some rest, hopefully.
