I was a little more experienced at icon making when I made these so I don't think they're *that* bad. There are a few dated effects used like blinds, dithering, and gaussian blur.

As I mentioned before, I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and my favorite character in the films has always been Arwen. I have more LotR icons to post but Arwen gets her own separate post because of the sheer number of icons I've made of her alone. Some of the first icons I ever made were of Arwen! The image quality is pretty bad on most of these. This post also includes what it (to my knowledge) the ugliest icon I've ever made. (#49) XD I don't know what I was thinking at the time!

I was a huge Lord of the Rings fan when the films came out. As a result, I became a fan of the actors in the film including Miranda Otto. I don't think any of these icons are hilariously bad but a few of them are bad enough.

Liv Tyler is a good place to start when showing how I've progressed as an icon maker since I was making icons of her from early on. Some of these icons are hilariously bad! There are some "old school" icon effects here in abundance including blinds, dithering, grid overlay, etc. I wasn't too good at adding text to icons. There's definitely an art to text in icons and I certainly didn't have it early but I think I got better at it as time went by.

Welcome to Creative Evolution, an InsaneJournal userpic archive! The idea behind this journal is to catalogue my journey as an icon maker from my humble beginnings on LiveJournal to now. The icons posted here were all made during my days on LiveJournal and posted under various names. (I tend to be a little bit of a journal gypsy which is why my current icon journal is called ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) icon_gypsies!) You may notice that I'm no longer on LiveJournal. This is because LJ's horrible customer service finally drove me away in early 2008. I don't want to support LJ by adding content to their suck-tastic website.
History:
I started on LiveJournal back in November 2002. (That was back when we needed codes to sign up. Remember those days?) I soon became fascinated by the 100x100 pixel userpics that everyone had. I started making icons in July 2003. My first icons were really rough (as you'll see) but I was proud because I made them myself. I soon graduated from a basic photo editing program to Paint Shop Pro 8 which I still use to this day. Over the years, I've learned techniques and tricks to make my icons better. I find that icon making is a fun way to express my creativity. Plus I met my two dearest friends through icon making!
