The image came slow, like trying to see something through mud. Wings? The guy looked like a butterfly. It was almost funny.
Billy's story struck Remy as a little odd. Not that Remy thought that there was anything wrong with going to the beach in the summer, Remy just didn't have a frame of reference to attach it to. Louisiana beaches were not ones most people willingly visited.
But Remy did have a concept of family. "I ain't been to da beach, but Etienne an' me would go crawfishin' in da spring." Remy's smile was a little bitter - though the bitter aspect would be difficult to pick up on under the current state of his face. He hadn't wanted to think about Etienne.
