Morrigan
Who: Theresa Cassidy
NPCs: A dead body
When: October 31 2008 (backdated)
Where: Salem New York, an undefined graveyard.
What: Terry’s playing with her food.
Rating: PG 13 for… well, Terry and a severed head.
She was horribly tempted to start monologueing. “Alas poor Horace, I knew him well Horatio” and so on. But there was no one to hear her (and only crazy people talked to themselves), and honestly the only reason she knew this head’s name was from the metal and stone plaque on the ground. But it was hard not to think of Shakespeare when playing hacky sack with a head in the middle of a misty graveyard on Halloween.
Terry wasn’t dressed as anything. She didn’t need to dress as a monster when she was already one on the inside. She wore the best damn costume in the world all year long. Halloween was simply the best time of year to gorge herself on the dead. Maybe it had to do with the thinning of the spirit walls or whatever old age/new age superstition, Terry didn’t know and didn’t care. But she was always positively giddy in late October, when there was plenty to eat and her bones ached, and for once she could say she was almost happy.
She hadn’t really planned on digging up the body. She didn’t need to if she wanted to eat. But it was an impulse and Terry had never been good at resisting her impulses. So she’d found herself a shovel in the groundskeeper’s shed and dug up a body to see what it was like. Then she’d tried to sever the head so she could see what that was like – how hard was it to remove a head from a body with a shovel?
Harder than it looked. Those people in zombie movies were either superstrong, or the zombies were made of Styrofoam. Terry suspected the later.
She wasn’t supposed to be outside by herself to begin with, but that never stopped Terry. And now she had a new toy to play with. And after all, sharing was caring…
