She wasn't ridiculing him, for Merlin's sake. But since she didn't know that was what he was thinking, neither could Ginny defend herself. It was, perhaps, for the best. It would have led to more of an argument than they were already heading toward.

And no, I didn't exactly read every article that might have splashed your name here or there. I don't recall there even being hardly any for a while." It was true. There was a time that things had settled down, regarding his name in the newspaper. It might not have been as long as he liked (it definitely wasn't as long as he would have liked) but it had been a slight reprieve.
Then he turned down her offer of help. Again. Twice burned now, the redhead looked hurt. "Fine." It was all she said, pace picking up slightly. If he wanted to leave, which she was sure that he did, she wouldn't stop him this time. Because it had done no good whatsoever any other time.
