He had been wrong. But it wasn't just Harry leaving that had an effect on the redhead. He was just sort of the catalyst, one would suppose. Or the beginning of an unraveling thread.
When he lifted his eyebrows, Ginny stared at him for a long moment. There had been a time when he smiled, hadn't there? She was trying to remember it now, but it was difficult. Even though she had pictures of him smiling and laughing, it was hard to imagine the person in front of her doing those things. "Do you like your hair that short?" It was a stupid, ridiculous question. It was the only thing that would actually make it past her lips.
Not that there wasn't a plethora of things that wanted to make it past her lips. Just that her question was the only one that did. Almost. "I'm not as prepared as I thought I would be." For seeing him. But never mind that. "What room are you?" Ginny wasn't as feisty as she had been. She had taken steps back, if anything. At least that was what it seemed at that very moment. She disliked the uncertainty. It paralysed her.
Ginny disliked it so much that she was trying to compensate for it, and ended up overcompensating. Since she couldn't get the real words out, she just kept letting other things come out. "My brother is here too. I haven't seen him either. I had to learn from Malfoy about you both."
