The last thing Adith remembered was the sickening crunch of the creature’s teeth sliding against his bone and then, mercifully, the world had gone black. He was jolted back awake by the feeling of arms around him, lifting him and he could hear shouting, the sound of running feet and horses hooves. The pain though was excruciating, and the smell of blood was nearly over powering. He opened his eyes the little he could, focusing for a moment on the face of Lord Edgar and then the fight to stay conscious was too much for him.
At least Lord Edgar had survived the attack. Adith had made sure of that.
