Eli wasn't a mechanic, but he still took note of where the engine rooms were in relation to the ship; a man was foolish if he didn't make himself aware of where things were in his environment. Best to know as much as you could; you never knew when some detail would come in handy.
"Ten years is a long time," Eli said easily. His boots rang on the decking, though if he chose he could be silent as a breath. "Loyalty is a fine thing. Your captain must be an exceptional person to earn that span of years of it."
He made a little considering sound as they came to the passenger section, looking around curiously. Most cabins looked taken. Not too many passengers, then. A possibility of four, maximum. That suited him just fine.
"I took off from Highgate as soon as I could, worked my way to Greenleaf. Managed to get some schooling, worked as an accountant for a medical company for eleven years. Good job, can't deny that, but not much in the way of an exciting life. Decided to see the 'verse before I grew to my office chair." Eli flashed a grin. "Probably not a new story to your ears."
