Jason leapt backward when the rubble exploded at his feet. Not for the first time, he wished he'd been born with something more useful than xray vision and invisibility - like ranged powers. "Good," he said. "Get out of here."
He moved back a few more feet, his eyes focused on the blond girl, a grin curving his lips. How the hell had a little mouse like her even made it in this far?
Ashley was stunned, and for a moment, completely paralyzed when Olena told her to go. She was gasping, open-mouthed panting, and shuddering. Somehow, she managed to push up to her feet, and she swayed against the wall. Was this what passing out felt like? Was she going to?
The edges of her vision darkened as she bent over, reaching for their bags before she turned to wobble off through the rubble. She spotted Peter, not far from where she'd left him, and she began to wobble in that direction.
Oh, god. She couldn't decide if this guy was worse than the zombies or not. At least you knew what the zombies wanted, but him...? Wildcard, all the way.
