"I know that!" Ashley shot back, wondering if the other woman was ever going to get tired of that argument. But ever since the zombie attack, Ashley had been even less inclined to let Peter go. What if one of them got him? It would be a very ignoble death for such a nice horse.
And now, this deep into the city, patches of grass were few and far between, so they'd have to walk him somewhere with more green stuff before she'd even think about letting him go. "I know all of that, okay, but I won't just set him loose for those ... those things to get at."
Jason's mouth dropped open. They were on the other side of a very, very nearby building. Stubbing out his cigarette, he stood up and shed his pants, fading into invisibility. Hopefully, if they wandered over and saw the pants, they'd just think they were left over from ... well, not from him.
Of course, they looked new and they'd be warm, but he couldn't do anything about that.
He was curious how they'd gotten so close so quickly. He must have really been out of it, and that upset him. Falling asleep in the open, while visible? He was slipping. He was slipping badly.
He started off his pile, wincing as he slipped, sending a pair of rocks clattering against each other. The sound was loud in the relative silence - and his bad luck had caused the noise right at a break in their conversation.
